Paul Gregory

The Art of the Photoshoot

My journey into the “industry” began in college. I completed 2 years at Ken College in Union New Jersey as a voice and theater major. I was made head of the make-up crew and designed all the make-up for all the shows some if which were “Blood Wedding” and “Little Mary Sunshine”, it was the latter where I learned “beauty” make-up. The girls in that show needed to look “so beautiful they could make men swoon” as it said in the script. So I learned corrective make-up and the importance of the shape of the hair to create a beautiful face. After leaving school I moved to New York, found a manager, and within 9 months became a partner in the management company. (this was before my 20th birthday) After 6 years of managing and producing model and talent competitions at the Waldorf Astoria. And discovered among other clients Richard Grieco, I left New York and moved to Los Angeles. After managing for a few more years, the acting itch needed scratching, so for income I was fortunate enough to do make-up full time while studying with Lynette Katseles, where I was Adam Sandler’s first scene partner. There a student suggested that I buy a camera and start shooting, so I did. I realized from day one that this was it! I was home. My first real shoot was on October 1st 1990. While launching my headshot career I continued studying acting, I worked with David Mann, Tony Grecco in class with Philip Seymore Hoffman, Silvana Gallardo, in class with Angelina Jolie, and my last teacher Greg Bach. I worked on “Sunset Beach” did a commercial for Comedy Central, starred in an indy film called “Proverbial Justice”, and a few more independents. I am a headshot specialist. I watch more film, television, and see more theater than practically anyone I’ve ever known. I split my time between a great house in the Hollywood Hills, and a fabulous condo off 5th Avenue in New York City. I have amazingly talented, beautiful people around me every day. I love inspiring people, and capturing their magic at every single photo session I do.
